An Iguana Burrow in the Backyard

Iguana Damage To Your Home is More Serious Than You Would Think

No one likes holes in their yard. Not only are they a tripping hazard, or in the worst case, sprains or broken ankles, they are unsightly and bring down property values. The Iguana burrows these holes for their nests, and these holes can turn into an extensive network of tunnels. This network of tunnels can weaken the soil around them, and if they are built into the home's foundation or canal walls these can cause thousands of dollars in damage due to landslides and possible sinkholes.

But these holes have another possible danger. If the nests get extensive enough, the Iguanas can cut underground cables or even damage the pipes underneath. While very rare, this is still a possibility, as Iguanas do not chew wires or pipes. But future residents of the tunnels can if the Iguanas leave.
